A Sunny Afternoon at the Preschool Playground

A bright, sunny afternoon in the Bay Area back in late May 2011. This was the scene at the local preschool playground, a familiar space filled with kids running around and enjoying the warm weather.

There were a few distinct zones of activity. Over on the wood chips, the big purple dinosaur spring rider was a popular spot. The main play structure also saw a steady stream of kids, with its bright blue slides a common place to find friends sitting together and posing for a photo before heading down.

The paved section of the yard was for things with wheels. Kids took turns on the red tricycles and the sturdy yellow scooters. At one point, I saw a couple of boys playing with a classic red wagon. It was just one of those simple, chaotic, and bright afternoons spent entirely outside.
