A Simple Beach Day from July 2011

A day from July 2011, spent mostly on the sand. We found a spot near a thatched-roof palapa where we could look out over the water. The ocean was incredibly calm and blue, with just small waves lapping the shore. We spent a lot of time just sitting, watching the water from the lounge chairs or right on the beach.

The main activities for the kids were playing with a big, inflatable sea turtle and collecting tiny seashells in a yellow bucket. It was that kind of simple, slow day.

At one point we were back inside, where a big white flower had bloomed by the window. There was a quiet moment just looking out at all the green outside before we headed back out.

As the afternoon light started to fade, we settled into the chairs. The day ended with a classic sunset over the ocean, the sun dipping behind the horizon and silhouetting the palm trees. It was a good, straightforward day by the water.
