A Sunny Spring Hike in the Tahoe Area

We got out for a hike on a perfectly clear and bright day in early May. It’s that time of year when the seasons feel like they’re overlapping. Up high, the Sierra peaks were still holding onto a thick layer of snow, but down in the valley where we were walking, everything felt like spring.

The trail followed a stream that was running high and clear with all the snowmelt. It wound through green meadows dotted with dandelions and into sections of pine forest. My dog was in his element, happily running along the narrow dirt path and through the tall grass.

The whole landscape felt open and quiet. Every clearing in the trees provided another big view of the snow-capped mountains in the distance. It was just a simple, beautiful day out, with warm sun and the sounds of the creek. A good reminder of how nice it is around here before the summer season really kicks in.
