A Night Out at the Local Gatsby Jazz Club
We had a reason to get dressed up on this Sunday in late April. A local group was putting on a "Gatsby Jazz Club" night, so we went for it with pearls, a flapper-style dress, and a fedora. We snapped a few family photos in the driveway before heading out, trying to catch the last of the afternoon light through the trees.
The event was held in a big, open hall with high, wooden-beamed ceilings. The organizers had set the scene with black and gold balloon arrangements and a projection of the event's name on a screen behind the stage.
The main attraction was a full jazz orchestra, and they were great. It was a big group, with a full horn section, xylophone, upright bass, guitar, and drums. They played to a seated audience, and the whole place had a really fun energy. It's not every day you get to put on a costume and go listen to live jazz just down the road.
