A Sunny Spring Hike with the Family
A perfect Saturday in early May, 2008. We headed out for a local hike in the Bay Area, wanting to take advantage of the warm, sunny weather. The day started with a walk along the shore of a small, calm lake, with the trees on the far bank reflected in the water.
Our daughter came along for the ride in the backpack carrier, taking in the view from up high as we walked. The trail then led us away from the water and up into a wooded area. The trees were tall, and it was nice to be in the dappled shade for a bit as the day warmed up. The light filtering through the leaves was beautiful.
We finished the outing in a nearby field. The grass was incredibly green and tall, almost up to her waist in some spots. We let her out of the carrier to stand on her own two feet for a while. She seemed fascinated by the new texture, standing there in the middle of it all.
