An Afternoon with the New Sandbox
A late April afternoon back in 2008. We had just put together this new sandbox in the yard—a wooden one with a little striped green and yellow canopy to keep the sun out. Naturally, we had to go take some pictures to mark the occasion.
The light was bright and a little harsh, but that's how it often is with impromptu backyard photos. My daughter seemed far more interested in the small toy car she was clutching than the actual sandbox, which was filled with all these new, colorful plastic toys just waiting to be used.
We're just posing by the wooden fence, getting a few shots in. It was a very typical scene for that time: a quiet day at home, documenting a new fixture of backyard life before it got inevitably covered in dirt and leaves.
