A Walk Along the Seine in Paris, August 2019

We spent a couple of days just outside Paris in mid-August 2019 and took the chance to do some sightseeing in the city. The weather was a mix of sun and heavy clouds, but it was warm enough. We started out in a wide-open square with an obelisk and an ornate fountain, which was crowded with people and tour buses.

From there, we walked toward the Seine. The river was busy with tour boats cruising up and down. You could see the Eiffel Tower almost immediately, standing out against the cloudy sky. It's one of those views that's exactly what you expect, but it's still impressive to see in person.

We spent a good amount of time on one of the bridges, taking in the view and getting the requisite family photos. We were all there, posing with the river and the tower in the background. The sun came out for a bit, making the water sparkle. It was a perfect spot for a few selfies and group shots.

The architecture along the river is incredible. Looking the other way from the Eiffel Tower, you could see the Grand Palais with its glass roof and the French flag flying. It was a classic Paris afternoon, just walking, looking, and taking it all in.
