A Week in France: Alsace and Paris
We spent a week in France in mid-August of 2019. The trip started with some quiet family time before we really got going. Our first proper stop was a town in the Alsace region, full of canals and old bridges that were beautiful under the summer sun. We spent most of our time just walking along the river and taking in the views of the historic architecture.
The girls found a classic carousel, which was a nice break from walking through the crowded streets. The whole town was lined with distinctive half-timbered houses. We wandered through the alleys, stopping for an ice cream cone and taking selfies on the little bridges that crossed the canals.
After a few days, we headed to the train station—an impressive old brick building with a clock tower—to make our way to the last stop. We ended the trip in Paris. One afternoon, we found ourselves on a rooftop looking out over the city. You could see the Eiffel Tower in the distance, a perfect, classic view to wrap up the week.
