Our Week in Sydney, Harbour to Coast
Went down to the water while it was still dark — the Harbour Bridge lit along its arch overhead, the Opera House sails white across from us, almost nobody else out. Middle of our week in Sydney and we still hadn't done the harbour by boat, so that came next, in daylight this time. The girls and I got seats up top and rode out from Circular Quay, bridge on one side, Opera House and the city skyline stacked up on the other. February is supposed to be Sydney's wettest month; instead we got a clean blue sky and a hot sun off the water, more like the 27°C end of things than the rain.
Afterward we walked the point through the gardens for the view where the sails and the bridge line up in one look, tourists spread out on the grass around us.
Ended on the coast past Bondi, out on the sandstone shelf where the swell comes in hard over the rocks. One of the girls picked her way out to the edge and stood there while the water broke white a few feet below her.
