A Week Skiing in the Mountains, January 2020

We spent the first full week of January on the mountain. The landscape was massive, with huge snow-covered bowls under a mix of clouds and blue sky. The air was cold, the light was flat, and the pine trees lining the slopes were coated in white. It was exactly what you hope for on a ski trip.

Most days were spent just getting runs in. We took a lot of the same selfies again and again, bundled up in helmets and goggles with the peaks in the background. In a few, you can see the reflection of the slopes in our lenses. The mountain was busy, but with so much space, it never felt too crowded out on the trails.

The weather was pretty consistently overcast for most of the week, but the sun finally broke through toward the end of our trip. The last couple of days were bright and clear, which was a great way to wrap things up. It felt good to be out in the cold, sunny air before we had to pack up and head home.
