A White Christmas at Home in Tahoe

We spent Christmas 2021 snowed-in up in Tahoe. It had been snowing for days leading up to the 25th, blanketing all the pine trees and turning the landscape a brilliant white. We went out for a walk in it, the air cold and fresh. The snow was deep and soft, muffling all sound and making everything feel completely still.

Back inside, it was warm and cozy. We had our main tree up, and a smaller, Michigan-themed one by the window looking out at the snowy woods. Even the cat got into the spirit, or at least, we got it into the spirit for a photo. It reluctantly wore a Santa hat for a moment.

Christmas morning was a slow, relaxed affair. We stayed in our festive pajamas, sat by the tree, and opened gifts. It was simple and unhurried, just family together while the snow continued to pile up outside the windows. A perfectly quiet holiday.
