A Very Snowy Christmas Holiday in Truckee
Christmas in Truckee this year, and the snow did not let up for it. The trees behind the house went completely white, and any walk out the front door meant wading.
Santa made an appearance by the tree in the window nook, which got everyone up off the couch. The cat tolerated a tiny Santa hat for exactly as long as it took to hold him still, bell collar and all. Presents went the way presents go — one of the girls opened Chanel No. 5 and held it up like evidence, and there was a Lionel train box somewhere in the wreckage of tissue paper.
After, the little ones dug tunnels in the drifts by the door, and the deep snow was too good to waste — skis came out and a track went straight across the untouched yard, past pines bent over with their loads.
