A Very Snowy Christmas Holiday in Truckee
We spent the last week of December 2021 up in Truckee, and a massive storm system settled in for our entire stay. It was a classic white Christmas. Before we got completely snowed in, we managed to get out into the quiet, snow-covered forest for a few portraits.
The days were cozy and festive. On Christmas Eve, we even had a surprise visitor in a big red suit stop by the tree. We made sure everyone was included in the celebration, even the cat, who briefly tolerated wearing a tiny Santa hat for a photo.
Christmas morning was a familiar, comfortable chaos of torn wrapping paper and new gifts. We watched from the warmth of the living room as the snow kept piling up outside, providing a perfect playground right outside the door.
By the end of the week, there was so much fresh powder. I finally got out on my skis to cut a new track through the neighborhood as the sun went down. It was a quiet, simple holiday focused on just being together.
