An Afternoon and Sunset on the Coast in Goleta

We arrived in Goleta in the afternoon. The place we stayed at was right on the coast, with a view looking over the pool area and out to the ocean. It was a classic Southern California scene, packed with palm trees and red-and-white striped umbrellas.

As the day started to end, the light softened, and the buildings and palms became dark silhouettes against the cloudy sky. We decided to walk down to the beach to catch the sunset before we lost the light completely.

The beach was pretty quiet. Our dog seemed to have a good time on the sand. As the sun got lower, I saw a lone person standing in the shallows with a long pier stretching out into the water in the distance.

The sky lit up with orange and yellow as the sun finally set behind the pier. It was a quiet way to end a simple day.
