Prom Night Photos at the House in Truckee

Prom for our daughter, so the whole group came out to our place before the dance at the Lodge at Tahoe Donner. She wore a deep burgundy dress and her date matched her — the tie and the boutonniere both the same dark red, which apparently took some coordinating. The two of them posed on the old chairlift bench under the pines, then all nine of them lined up in the grass in front of the aspens, black suits and long dresses, more red than anything else this year plus one blue and one green.

Her sister was out there with a camera too, directing three of the girls into their own lineup, so I mostly stayed out of the way. Grandma got a hug in before they left. I managed one selfie with the girl of the hour, bouquet and braid and all, and then they were gone and it was just the adults on the patio with the string lights and a glass of wine.
