An Afternoon Celebration for a 100th Birthday

We gathered on a sunny afternoon in April 2012 for a very special occasion: a 100th birthday. The party was held in a bright, brick-walled room with large windows, and the theme was decidedly pink. Pink balloons were tied up everywhere, and we started by pouring glasses of a sparkling pink beverage for the guests as they arrived.

A long table was set with snacks—bowls of chips, a platter of cheese and crackers, and dozens of pink-frosted cupcakes carefully arranged to spell out '100'. Nearby, a large photo collage had been propped up against the window, showcasing a century of memories under a sign that read '100 Years!'. It was a simple, lovely tribute.

The room filled up with friends and family, mostly seniors, who settled in at tables to chat. The guest of honor, a woman with bright white hair, seemed to be enjoying herself. My favorite moment was seeing her presented with a full mug of beer. She took a long, satisfying sip, a perfect way to toast to such a milestone.
