Leaf Throwing Under the Big Oak

A child throws autumn leaves into the air in a backyard with a large tree and a house.

Didn't even leave the yard today. The oak finally let go of most of its leaves this week and the ground under it is solid brown now — you can't see grass anywhere between the trunk and the patio.

The kid spent a long stretch out there scooping up armfuls and throwing them straight up, then standing under the fall of them, then doing it again. No raking involved, which is probably the correct order of operations. Rake first and there's nothing left to throw.

At some point the game moved over to the base of the trunk itself, right by the chicken coop side, still going when I stopped watching. The trampoline sat ignored the whole time, which says something about leaves in November.

The pile situation out there is going to take more than one afternoon with a rake. Not today's problem.
