An Afternoon with the Autumn Leaves

It was late November, and the backyard was completely covered in leaves. They formed a thick, crunchy carpet across the lawn and patio, almost all of them shed from the one giant tree that dominates the yard. We didn't have any big plans for the day, so we just spent some time outside.

The main event was throwing them, handful after handful, into the air and letting them rain back down. The sun was low, casting long shadows and lighting up the leaves as they fell. I watched from just inside the door, looking out at the scene.

You can see the trampoline in the background, but the leaves were the real attraction that day. It was a simple afternoon, just making the most of a classic fall day at home.
