A View of the 2012 Giants World Series Parade

It was Halloween in 2012, but the main event in San Francisco had nothing to do with costumes. The Giants had just won the World Series, and the entire city turned out for the victory parade. We managed to get a spot in a building overlooking the parade route, giving us a bird's-eye view of the absolute sea of people below. The streets were a solid mass of orange and black, packed shoulder to shoulder for blocks.

From our vantage point, we watched the procession make its way through the canyon of downtown buildings. The players rolled by on buses and in the backs of classic convertibles, waving to the crowds. It was incredible to see the sheer scale of it all from above. You could feel the energy of hundreds of thousands of people celebrating together, their cheers echoing up the sides of the buildings.

The parade route was a slow-moving river of vehicles, confetti, and people. It wasn't just a celebration of a baseball team; it felt like a celebration for the entire Bay Area. Looking down at the packed intersections and sidewalks, it seemed like the whole region had stopped what it was doing to be part of this one shared moment.
