Shelly and I married back in August of 2003. The whole event took place in my parent's back yard in Grand Rapids. I remember the setup clearly: a beautiful floral arch built over a wooden dock right at the water's edge.

Before the ceremony, we caught a quiet moment of the bride, with the river visible outside. A bit later, the groomsmen were all lined up in their suits, waiting by the water. The guests sat in chairs on the grassy bank, and it felt like a perfectly calm summer day for an outdoor ceremony.

The ceremony itself was beautiful against the backdrop of the water. Afterwards, there were so many hugs and quiet embraces. It's those small moments that stick with you.

The reception had a large, multi-tiered white cake decorated with more fresh flowers, matching the bouquets. Looking back, it was a perfect wedding, focused entirely on our closest friends and family.
