An August Lakeside Wedding in West Michigan
This was a wedding back in August of 2003. The whole event took place on the shore of a lake somewhere in West Michigan, with a tree-covered hill on the opposite bank. I remember the setup clearly: a beautiful floral arch built over a wooden dock right at the water's edge.
Before the ceremony, I caught a quiet moment of the bride looking out a large window, with the lake visible outside. A bit later, the groomsmen were all lined up in their suits, waiting by the water. The guests sat in chairs on the grassy bank, and it felt like a perfectly calm summer day for an outdoor ceremony.
The ceremony itself was beautiful against the backdrop of the water. Afterwards, there were so many hugs and quiet embraces. I focused in on the details, like their hands with the new wedding rings resting on the intricate beading of the bride's dress. It's those small moments that stick with you.
The reception had a large, multi-tiered white cake decorated with more fresh flowers, matching the bouquets. Looking back, it was a classic lakeside Michigan wedding, focused entirely on the couple and their family.
