Waterside Lunch in Oranjestad, Aruba
Aruba keeps surprising me with how Dutch it is. Walking through Oranjestad we passed a billboard for a place called Lekker advertising Holland Chinese cuisine, which is a combination I would not have guessed at before this trip, and then Eet Café The Paddock, painted floor to roofline in cow spots with an old car and what I'm fairly sure was a dinosaur parked up on the red roof.
The main event was lunch at a table right on the harbor — water on two sides of the terrace, a trellis with lights strung through it, boats going by past the railing. Amstel Bright in a cold bottle, brewed here rather than shipped from Amsterdam, which felt right for an August afternoon this hot. Nobody hurried us out.
