A Waterside Lunch on an August Afternoon

A few photos from a day spent walking around on August 10, 2003. I remember seeing this sign for 'Lekker Bar Restaurant.' The combination of 'Holland Chinese Cuisine' stuck with me—one of those slightly strange fusions you come across when you're away from home. The sign itself looked like it had seen its share of sun.

The weather was bright and warm, with a few big clouds overhead. I stopped for a drink at a table right on the water's edge. It was the perfect spot to just sit for a while and watch the water. I was wearing a ridiculous yellow hat, which probably tells you something about the strength of the sun that day.

Later on, I walked past another memorable spot, 'The Paddock.' It's hard to miss a building painted with cow spots. The whole scene, with the distinctive facade, the red trim, and the old red Jeep parked right out front, felt very characteristic of the place. Just a few disconnected moments from a simple afternoon.
