An Early June Hike By The Lake

Just a few regular days at home in early June. The weather was turning properly toward summer, with bright sun and big, puffy clouds, so I took the dog out for a hike on a trail that runs along one of the local lakes.

The path starts in the woods, following a rocky stream through the pines before opening up to the shore. The lake was full, with marshy green grass growing right up out of the shallows. It's that really vibrant green you only get for a few weeks at the beginning of the season.

We followed the trail that loops around the edge of the water. From the far side, you could see some snow still clinging to the peaks in the distance. The dog had a great time running along the grassy path. It was quiet and calm, with just a light ripple on the water.

The sun was strong, making the water look incredibly clear and green where it was shallow near the shore. It was just a good, simple day to be outside.
