Saturday Night In, San Marcos Garden Lights
No itinerary for this one. Down in San Marcos, North County, and the whole evening happened in the back garden after dark — a Saturday night in, which was the point.
The garden earns it at night. Small spotlights come on low in the beds and pick out the foxtail ferns and a Buddha sitting under the white-barked tree, and there's a chandelier made entirely of shells hanging from one of the branches, strings of them all the way down. Red begonias at the edges of the light, then black past that. You can hear the neighborhood through the fence but not see much of it.
Inside, the supplies for the rest of the night: a fresh cartridge in its little foil bag, a cannabis chocolate bar, and the Absolute Xtracts case to keep it all in one place. That was the extent of the plans, and it held.
