An October Week in Singapore, From Temples to Supertrees
I spent the last week of October 2022 in Singapore. The city presents so many different faces. One of my first stops was the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, where the quiet interior was filled with ornate, golden statues and intricate carvings. It felt like a world away from the modern city just outside its doors.
At night, Singapore is a different place entirely. The skyline is dominated by architectural landmarks like the Marina Bay Sands hotel, which looks massive from any angle. But the real highlight for me was seeing the Gardens by the Bay after dark. The Supertree Grove is genuinely surreal, like something from a science fiction film.
I spent a long time there just looking up at the structures, covered in plants and lit with an incredible light show. The colors kept shifting between vibrant purples, blues, and pinks against the night sky. Walking along the elevated OCBC Skyway, weaving between the canopies, offered a completely different perspective of the gardens and the city beyond.
Ending an evening by looking back across the water at the skyline, with the large Singapore Flyer ferris wheel turning slowly and the city lights reflected on the bay, was a perfect way to take it all in. The entire area felt electric.
