Clear Skies and Fresh Snow on the Mountain
Woke up at the end of January to a perfect winter scene. From the deck, the cabin and pines were covered in a fresh layer of snow, but the sky was completely clear. It was exactly the kind of day you hope for around here.
I spent the next couple of days, January 31st and February 1st, up on the mountain. The conditions were incredible – bright sun and that deep blue sky you only get at this altitude. From the top, you could see across the entire basin, with Lake Tahoe looking impossibly blue against all the white. The snow-covered mountains on the far side felt close enough to touch.
The visibility was pretty much perfect. I just spent my time making runs and taking in the panoramic views. There weren't many clouds, just a few wisps here and there. It was just a solid couple of days on the slopes at home.
