A Weekend of Contrasts: Coast and Snow

A quick trip out to the island for the weekend. The harbor was full of boats, and a layer of haze hung over the town as we came in. From up on the hills, you could see the whole curve of the bay and the houses built up the steep slopes.

We spent some time walking the dirt roads up in the mountains, where the fog was rolling in thick over the ridges. It felt a world away from our usual scenery. Back inside, the dog made himself comfortable on the couch for a bit.

Then it was time to head back home to Tahoe. The contrast was immediate. We left the damp coastal air and drove back to deep snow and that intense, high-altitude sun. The cabin was covered, and the light reflecting off the snow was almost blinding.

The dog didn't seem to mind the cold, especially with his sweater on. He was happy to be back, running down the middle of the snow-packed road between the tall pines. Just a regular weekend, spanning two very different places.
