Holiday Music and Fresh Snow in a Tahoe Town
We spent a few days up in Tahoe in mid-December. The conditions were perfect for skiing—deep snow under a completely clear blue sky. I got some runs in, taking in the views of the misty valley below. The sun was bright, even when it created a haze through the trees, lighting up the snow on the slopes.
After skiing, we headed into town. The streets were lined with thick snowbanks, and long icicles hung from the awnings of the shops. That low, sharp winter sun cast long shadows everywhere.
We came across a youth band playing on a street corner, right outside a shop called 'The Treehouse'. It looked like a local school group, with a few of them wearing Santa hats. They had their music stands set up right on the snowy sidewalk, playing for shoppers and anyone passing by. It was a simple, nice moment—just a local group making music in the cold, bright afternoon before the holidays.
