Lake Days for the Fourth
Fourth of July on the water this year. We put in the morning at the lake, which was flat and mostly empty early on — one paddleboarder way out in the middle and not much else moving. The docks on the east end still had their boats tied up, so the crowds hadn't shown yet.
Worked our way along the shoreline through the afternoon. The shallows near the beach were clear enough to see straight down to the sand, and the shade under the pines was the only reasonable place to stand by midday.
Ended the day up high, above the tree line, where the granite still had patches of snow in the hollows and a little haze was sitting over the ranges to the west. Back down before dark.
