Late August Firewood Haul in Tahoe
The end of August always feels like a turning point here. The air gets a little crisper in the mornings, and the angle of the sun changes just enough to remind you that the seasons are shifting. For us, that means it's time to start thinking about winter.
This week's big chore was stocking up on firewood. We got a full cord delivered and spent the better part of a day moving it. The first step was just getting the trailer full of split logs parked up by the house. It's heavy work, but having the lake and the pines as a backdrop makes it a little easier.
The real work is unloading and stacking it all piece by piece. Now it's all piled under the wood shelter, ready for the cold months ahead. It’s a satisfying feeling to see the pile stacked high, knowing that's one major task checked off the list before the snow starts to fly.
