August Camping Weekend at Loon Lake
Down to Loon Lake for the August camping weekend. The site had room for everything — the trailer on the pavement, a couple of tents back under the trees, the pop-up canopy over the picnic table with those little flame lights strung along the inside. Somebody rigged a hammock between the pines near the trailer and it got steady use.
The dog decided early on that one of the camp chairs was hers. She sat in it with a blanket wadded up around her and her paws hanging off the front edge, and nobody had the heart to move her. She did come down for hot dog night, working the kids at the picnic table for scraps.
Evenings were the fire ring, chairs pulled in close, cans of IPA, the youngest one going boneless in a lap before it was even fully dark. Firewood stacked and ready for the next round. Hard weekend to argue with.
