Late June Days by the Water in Tahoe

A few quiet days at home at the end of June. The mornings started down at Donner Lake, which was calm and clear under a big blue sky. The geese were out as usual, wading in the shallows or just standing on the sand. The sun was already bright, but the air still had a bit of a morning chill to it.

Later in the day, I spent some time over at Lake Tahoe. The scale is always so different there. From the pier, you could see boats dotting the water, which looked incredibly blue. It felt like summer was in full swing down by the shore, with people out on paddleboards near the forested edge of the lake.

The most striking thing, though, was how much snow was still clinging to the mountains in the distance. It was almost July, but the peaks were still white — a clear reminder of the massive winter we'd just had. It created that classic Tahoe contrast: summer on the water, with winter still looking down from above.
