Late Winter Days by the Lake and on the Mountain

A few days at home in early March. The week started out quiet down by the lake. The water was incredibly still, reflecting a big, wispy sky. The piers were empty, which is pretty typical for this time of year, with patches of old snow still on the shore.

Then the weather shifted and we got a run of perfect bluebird days. I spent most of that time up on the mountain. The sky was so clear you could see forever, crisscrossed by contrails from planes heading somewhere else. It was great late-season skiing, with plenty of snow still covering the slopes and views stretching all the way down to the lake. The air was cold and crisp.

The clear weather held for the rest of the week. Got out in the UTV for a bit to get around some of the snowy fields. It's just a different way to be out in the same landscape. A good, straightforward stretch of late winter days before the spring melt really begins.
