Pre-Prom Photos on a Sunny Afternoon in Truckee

Late May in Truckee brought the perfect weather for prom. The sun was out, the sky was bright blue, and everyone was gathered for the prerequisite photo session before the main event. Friends started arriving, parking their cars and meeting up, a mix of excitement and nervous energy in the air.

The guys lined up for their photos in black suits and boutonnieres, looking sharp against the green of the golf course and the tall pines. Then the girls gathered for their shots, a line of colorful gowns with the mountains providing a classic Tahoe backdrop. The light was great, making all the colors of the dresses pop.

We found a few spots for couple photos, including a simple wooden bench overlooking the course. It's a specific kind of moment, this pre-prom gathering. It's formal but also relaxed, a documentation of friendships and a rite of passage before everyone heads off to the dance for the rest of the evening.
