Putting Out the Thanksgiving Decorations at Home
A quiet day at home. With Halloween over, I spent some time swapping out the decorations for November. It's always a bit of a ritual, unpacking the same small objects that only see the light of day for a few weeks each year. The little ceramic pilgrim and turkey figurines made their way onto the piano, next to the usual candlesticks.
I moved things around on the shelves, too. A couple of miniature pumpkins found a home next to the orange pitcher. It’s funny how these specific colors—the oranges, reds, and yellows in the vases and bowls—feel so appropriate for this exact moment in the year.
There's a certain comfort in seeing these familiar things reappear. They don’t change, even as everything else does. They're just small, quiet markers of time passing inside the house.
