Putting Out the Thanksgiving Decorations
Got the Thanksgiving decorations out today, which mostly means the old wax pilgrims and turkeys. They come out earlier every year and I don't apologize for it.
The pilgrim couple went up on the piano with the green tapers between them, one small turkey standing guard in the middle. The other pair — the ones with the flaking paint and the worn wicks nobody will ever light — got the shelf next to the orange Fiesta pitcher and a little pumpkin, which felt right. The lone one with the red headdress ended up leaning against the darkest turkey on the bowl shelf. That turkey has lost most of his tail paint at this point.
Every year I move them around three or four times before I'm satisfied. Today it only took two.
