Halloween 2016: A Year of Vikings and Care Bears
Halloween in late October 2016 had a mixed theme for our family. The kids went all-in on a Viking concept, complete with face paint, faux fur, and a shield for good measure. They took their roles very seriously, posing with the pumpkins we'd carved by the front door as evening approached.
My costume was a bit of a contrast. I joined them as a Care Bear, which made for a funny trio. It wasn't just me, either. I was part of a whole group of friends who dressed up as the Care Bear crew, which was a colorful and fun sight when we all got together.
Not to be left out, the dog got his own costume. He was a surprisingly tolerant bumblebee for the occasion, posing for a few photos with the jack-o'-lanterns before the trick-or-treating began. It was just a simple, fun neighborhood Halloween, with everyone getting into their respective characters.
