Ropes Courses and Horseback Riding in the Woods
We took a trip out to the woods for a few days in mid-July of 2019. The weather was perfect for it—sunny and warm, with clear blue skies.
A good portion of our time was spent at an adventure park built high up in the pine trees. After getting fitted with harnesses and helmets, we navigated the courses. There were wobbly rope bridges to cross and suspended logs to balance on, all a good distance from the ground. The wooden climbing walls were also a real challenge. You can see one of my kids in her pink helmet making her way up one of them.
Later in the trip, we went for a horseback ride. The trail wound through a different part of the forest and along the bank of a stream. Our group of four paused by the water for a while. It was a completely different pace from the ropes course, just a quiet and calm way to spend an afternoon.
