Summer on the Water at a High Sierra Lake

We spent a couple of days out on a mountain lake in late June of 2017. The views were immense, with the deep blue water stretching out to forested shores and peaks in the distance. Even at the start of summer, there was still a good amount of snow capping the higher mountains, which made for a nice contrast with the warm, sunny weather.

We spent most of our time on the water. I got out on a paddleboard with the dog, who seemed perfectly content to stand at the front and take in the view. The lake was pretty calm, making it easy to just drift for a while.

The next day, we took a group of us out on a motorboat. With the kids in their life vests, we cruised out toward the middle of the lake. Being out there really gives you a sense of the scale of the place. We were just enjoying the sunshine and the clear skies, with the boat cutting through the water. It was a simple, perfect couple of days spent outdoors.
