A Bluebird Ski Day Above Lake Tahoe

We took advantage of a clear, sunny day back in mid-February to get some turns in. The sky was completely cloudless, one of those perfect bluebird days where the sun on the snow is almost blinding. We stopped on a run to grab a quick photo with the lake stretched out behind us, bright blue even from a distance.

The visibility was incredible. From the upper mountain, you could see across the entire lake basin, a deep blue surrounded by white peaks on all sides. We spent most of the day just cruising around, taking in the views between the pine trees. I stopped a few times just to look at some of the older, wind-bent trees that manage to survive up here.

It's hard to beat that classic Sierra Nevada landscape of snow, granite, and conifers against a bright sky. We kept pointing out different rocky peaks and ridgelines as we rode the lifts up. It was just a simple, good day on the mountain with great conditions—exactly what a Tahoe winter day should be.
