A Bluebird Ski Day in Late February
It was the end of February, and we got a perfect bluebird day for skiing. The sun was bright on the mountain, and there were plenty of people out enjoying it. We snapped a quick selfie on the slopes before getting our runs in for the day.
Later on, we found our way to a quieter spot, where we came across an old, faded red train car sitting out in a wide snowy field, backed by a dense wall of pines. It's always interesting to find these remnants of something else out in the middle of the forest.
The snow was great for cross-country skiing here. We followed the groomed tracks that cut through the trees. The light was sharp and the shadows of the pines were long across the trail. It was completely quiet except for the sound of our skis.
We finished up in the afternoon, tired from the sun and the cold air. A good, straightforward day out on the snow.
