A Clear Day Walking the Coast in Solana Beach
A mid-May day spent walking along the coast. The sky was perfectly clear, and from the clifftops, you could see the lines of white foam from the waves rolling in continuously. The view stretched for miles down the beach.
The houses and condos are built right up to the edge, overlooking the drop to the sand. After walking the bluffs for a while, I made my way down to the beach itself. The perspective is completely different from sea level, with the steep, sandy cliffs rising up on one side and the ocean on the other.
I eventually wandered up from the water and passed under the arch for the Coastal Rail Trail in Solana Beach. The path is surrounded by palm trees and other greenery, a stark contrast to the open sand and water just a few steps away.
The walk ended at a nearby restaurant. I found a seat at the wooden bar and spent some time looking over the menu, a simple finish to a quiet day outdoors.
