Marina Views and an Afternoon Downtown
A quiet stretch of days at home this past week in mid-May. The weather was consistently clear, with bright blue skies almost every day. My default view was of the marina, watching the sailboats and yachts bobbing in the water, with the Coronado Bridge faint in the distance. It’s a calm and constant backdrop.
I got out for a bit, taking the trolley downtown. The light under the station canopy was interesting, framing the glass high-rises against the sky. I ended up at the Stone Brewing taproom for a while, sitting out on their patio. It’s a nice spot, surrounded by big green trees and vines that block out a lot of the street noise.
Later in the afternoon, the light softened. I watched a BNSF freight train, covered in graffiti, roll past the convention center. The bougainvillea planted along the waterfront was in full bloom, almost fluorescent pink. It was just a few regular days, spent mostly observing the usual city scenes from a few different vantage points.
