A Cloudy Couple of Days Exploring Sydney
I spent a couple of days in Sydney in mid-February. The sky was consistently overcast the whole time, a flat grey ceiling over the city.
My walk started in the area around Hyde Park, where the Archibald Fountain was spraying water in front of St Mary's Cathedral. From there, I wandered through the city center, taking in the mix of architecture—the modern lines of the Museum of Sydney right up against grand, historic sandstone buildings dwarfed by glass towers.
Eventually, I made my way down to Circular Quay. The view is just as iconic as you'd expect, even under a grey sky. The Opera House's sails looked stark white, and the Harbour Bridge dominated the skyline. I watched one of the yellow and green ferries making its way across the water. The whole trip was short, just over a day, ending with a substantial breakfast the next morning before heading out.
