Clear February Day Around San Francisco

San Francisco gets about eight clear days in a typical February, and this was one of them, so I walked the eastern edge of the city until it ran out. Started downtown near Bush and Battery, where a whole block of street is painted over in waves, blue and yellow breaking below the Shell Building, then cut over to the Embarcadero and turned south. The Bay Bridge from the seawall, a tanker sliding through underneath it. Past Cupid's Span at Rincon Park, past the packed masts at South Beach Harbor, the water barely moving.

Mission Creek was the far end of it. Two paddleboarders came up the channel past the old Lefty O'Doul drawbridge while the sun went down behind the new towers on the Mission Bay side.

Fully dark by Chase Center, 50 degrees according to the big screen out front, which was running the Warriors game — up three on the Lakers with six minutes left, doors open, plaza nearly empty. Walked back past the LUMA hotel on Channel Street, its whole honeycomb wall cycling through colors for nobody but the traffic lights.
