A December Afternoon at Home with the Dog

A Sunday at home in mid-December, 2010. The tree was up, decorated with lights, and we were just spending the afternoon inside. It was one of those quiet days without any specific plans. Our daughter was still in her pajamas, and our dog was following her around the living room.

She had a new bright pink stuffed toy that she was determined to make his favorite. She kept offering it to him, and he seemed cautiously interested. For a small dog, he could be particular about his toys, but this one seemed to capture his attention.

Eventually, he took it and settled on the carpet. The flash from the camera really lit up his eyes in a couple of these shots. He held the pink toy in his mouth for a while before dropping it and rolling around.

Our daughter got down on the floor with him, and they played for a bit. It was just a simple, comfortable afternoon scene by the light of the window and the Christmas tree.
