A Few Days in Cambridge and London, September 2021

We spent a few days in early September traveling. Our first stop was a city clearly defined by its river, full of old stone buildings and bridges. The weather was perfect the whole time — bright and clear — and the punting boats were all lined up along the banks, reflecting in the calm water.

We spent most of our time just walking and exploring the grounds of the old colleges. The architecture is impressive, all weathered stone and arched doorways. It felt surprisingly quiet, especially in the gardens with their perfectly manicured lawns stretching out between the trees under the blue sky.

Later, the atmosphere shifted as we moved on. We found ourselves in a spot where people were gathered outside at picnic tables, enjoying drinks in the late afternoon sun next to old converted churches. The evenings were mild, and we spent them outdoors as the sky started to change color.

One evening ended in a large park, watching the sunset behind a huge Ferris wheel. The light was beautiful on the grand old buildings, from the one with the distinctive blue cupolas on the hill to the stately hall with its clock tower. It was a calm end to a few busy days of exploring.
