A Few Days of Late Summer Stillness Near Tahoe

Spent a few days close to home in the Sierra this past mid-August. We hitched up the trailer and found a quiet spot by a lake, setting up for a couple of days of stillness. The weather was classic for this time of year—shifting between partly cloudy skies and intense, clear sun.

The first couple of days, the water was like glass, perfectly reflecting the big, puffy clouds and the dense line of pine trees along the shore. It was the kind of quiet where the main activity is just watching the light and the sky change. We had the Jeep and the bike, but mostly it was about being stationary.

By the end of our short stay, the sky had opened up to a solid, cloudless blue. The sun was bright on the water, and the reflections were sharp and clear. It wasn't a big trip, just a simple, observational few days spent outdoors, watching the landscape shift with the weather before heading back.
