A Few Quiet Days Around Tahoe at the End of April
The last few days of April 2022 were clear and bright. From around home, the mountains still had a good amount of snow, holding on from the last storms of the season. The sky was a deep, cloudless blue most of the time, and the sun felt strong even if the air still had a chill to it.
I spent some time just driving around familiar spots. The reservoirs are still pretty low, waiting for the full spring melt to fill them back up. The water was calm under the big sky, with just a few small clouds passing by.
Further down in the valleys, the rivers are starting to move. You can see the landscape slowly turning from the dull brown of winter to green. It's a quiet time of year up here, that in-between season where it's not quite winter and not yet summer. I found a small pond where the new grass was coming in bright and saturated around the edges, a sure sign that spring is finally here.
