A Few Late May Days at Home

A few slow late-May days at home, nothing on the calendar, so I walked out to the creek both mornings. The water is still moving fast with snowmelt, riffling white over the gravel bars, and the willows along the banks have leafed out green enough to lean over the channel. Still some snow on the peaks off to the west. The old stumps in the middle of the current are holding on, grass sprouting from the base of one of them.

Back at the house, the new cedar tub is on the patio now, steps built, cover on. A couple of spare boards are still lying on the pavers waiting for a decision. It smells like a lumberyard out there, in a good way.
