A Few Quiet, Sunny Days by the Lake

A vast lake reflects a clear blue sky, flanked by snow-covered mountains and dense pine forests under white clouds.

The first few days of April were pretty standard for this time of year in Tahoe. We had a stretch of bright, clear weather, with that intense high-altitude sun that makes the sky look impossibly blue. It felt like spring, but looking at the mountains, you'd think it was still the middle of winter. They were completely covered in a thick blanket of snow.

I spent some time down by the lake, just watching the light change. The water was calm, mostly just small ripples on the surface that caught the sun and turned into a million little flashes. The glare could be pretty intense, but it was nice to see after a long winter. You could feel the warmth from the sun, but the air still had that distinct cold bite to it.

Not much changed day to day, just the arrangement of the puffy clouds against the mountains. It's that in-between time of year, when the snow is still deep but the sun feels different. Just a few quiet, bright days at home, watching the season slowly start to turn.
