Halloween Weekend with Friends in San Marcos
Halloween weekend, and the house in San Marcos was already done up before anyone put a costume on — a giant inflatable pumpkin-headed thing towering over the front walk, cobwebs strung across the porch, a black spider the size of a dinner plate on the window, purple lights on everything including the tree out front. My wife went full mermaid, sequined tail and shell crown, and posed with the inflatable while there was still some light in the sky. I did the sea captain — striped shirt, white cap, blazer.
The rest of the group filled out at the house: Batman, Wonder Woman, a Day of the Dead pair with the skeleton face paint done properly, one full skeleton suit. Got the group photo in by the piano before we headed out.
Ended up at the ale works, still in costume, sunk into the big leather chairs. The skeleton talked with his hands the whole night. The captain's hat stayed on longer than I expected it to.
