Heavy Mid-February Snowfall at Home in Truckee
The mid-February storm finally landed. Last night it came down hard enough that standing under the patio string lights you couldn't see past the near pines — just snow streaking through, the bulbs half buried on their line. The dog wanted no part of it and stayed curled in her bed by the stools while we kept checking out the back door.
By morning everything had a full load on it. The big pines in the yard were bent under it, the swing under the trees just visible, and fog sat over the golf course so the power lines faded out halfway across. Went out and tromped a line through the yard toward the road, snow deeper than the boots in spots.
By midday the fog burned off and the sky went blue, the aspens still white to the smallest branch. Tracks everywhere across the yard, most of them ours.
