A Winter Day at Home in Truckee
No plans today, which was the point — a winter day at home. Snow still deep across the meadow and heaped on the aspens out front, sun up high enough to knock some of it loose from the branches through the morning.
Walked out back through the drifts and worked on a snowman, a proper three-ball one. He ended up with a straw hat, sunglasses, stick arms, and the orange scarf hanging down both sides like braids. He looks better dressed than I did.
The dog spent most of the afternoon in the sunroom by the front door, parked on the warm tile, watching the yard through the low windows. Boots drying by the wall where they always end up.
